Root Beer Float

Root Beer:  it's a love-it-or-hate-it kind of thing, and I'm definitely in the 'love it' camp!  I'm not a big fan of fizzy drinks, on the whole (not counting a cold lager of course) but once in a very occasional while, when it's horribly humid and I'm in need of a sugar-rush, this really hits the spot.

A couple of scoops of vanilla ice-cream,

A can of Dad's finest (chosen over A&W purely for the beautiful retro label!),

Carefully poured over the ice-cream, spooning the vanilla foam into your mouth as you go,

And minutes later - all gone!

The perfect combination of food and drink in one glass!

Oh Kate I have not had one of those in over 30 years. When we lived in Port Elizabeth we used to go to the road house every Friday night for one of those.

Now, I can go with a 'float' as they say but Root Beer? The boys love it but I can't get past the fact that it smells and tastes like TCP! HOWEVER the principle of fizzy drink and ice cream seems to me to be a sound one (even though I too don't generally like them) Think I may try a ginger beer one.....x

Is root beer similar to Dr. Pepper?
Don't know if we can get root beer over here Kate?
I'd love to try this...
